The Adventures of Harry & Paul: A Duckumentary

Est 1928

Once upon a pond, two ambitious little ducklings, Harry Ducklery and Papa Paul Ducklery, hatched with big dreams and even bigger feathers.  Born in the faraway marshes FROM A POND IN UKRAINE, life wasn’t always smooth sailing. Their father? A mystery. Their mother and wise old Grandpa Duck kept them afloat while dodging the stormy currents.

So, what did Harry and Paul do?

They paddled west! First stop: Boston. Jobs were scarce, and the cattails were crowded. So, they quacked up their surname from DUCKLERY to Handlery—because every duck needs a little flair.

After hearing whispers of golden breadcrumbs in California, they waddled across the country to Vallejo. Where Harry met Rose and tied the knot in 1911.  Soon, Harry hatched a vision: “Why just swim when you can own the whole pond?” with hotels in his sight he started with Casa de Vallejo in 1928.

Paul, Harry’s youngest duckling, shared the same dream. After earning his feathers at Cornell, he dove headfirst into the hotel business, adding pools, saunas, and even gas pumps for road-tripping ducks. By 1964, Paul built what might have been the first boutique hotel in the nation—complete with outdoor heated pools for ducks who love a warm splash. Through wars, earthquakes, and quacks of competition, the Handlery family flock stayed true to their philosophy:

Think like a guest. Swim like a team. And never forget—success doesn’t hatch overnight.

Why Ducks you ask …

No duck travels alone,  because they’re flock is always nearby, and no guest stays alone because you’re always with family at Handlery Hotels.
